Tyler Johnson, CFP® CTFA
I believe two-way relationships build lasting trust, so I want to introduce myself on a personal level first:
I’m in my mid-30s and have called the Steele Creek area of Charlotte home since 2015. I’m married to an amazing woman (Kelly), who works in the mental health field, and we are blessed to have a son and a fur baby (dog). The Christian faith is an important part of our lives—we’re active members and volunteers at our local church. That said, I value and respect people of all backgrounds and beliefs, and I hope you’ll feel welcome at StillWater regardless of what we may or may not have in common.
We love to travel, explore new cultures, and find ways to give back along the way. Personally, I’m a bit of a hobbyist—whether it’s hiking, kayaking, playing pickup sports, or volunteering with local nonprofits. I’m passionate about promoting financial literacy and supporting the fight against human trafficking. I’m also a proud Clemson graduate and lifelong Tigers fan. If you’re curious to know more, feel free to ask—I genuinely enjoy getting to know people and offering support wherever I can.
Now, a bit about my professional journey:
I graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University in 2012 with a degree in Financial Management and an emphasis in Financial Services. My career began at Vanguard, where I earned my Series 7 and 63 licenses. By 2015, I had achieved my CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designation and became a financial advisor in Vanguard’s Personal Advisor Services group.
Over the next eight years, I had the privilege of advising a diverse client base—managing relationships with assets from $200,000 to $7 million, and ultimately overseeing a book exceeding $200 million in total assets. In 2023, I took a leap of faith and launched StillWater Financial Advisors to bring a more personal, relationship-driven approach to financial planning.
In addition to being a CFP®, I hold my life insurance license and CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) designation — which demonstrates a deeper level of training in estate and trust planning.
I don’t claim to have every answer, but I do promise that when I don’t know something, I’ll work to find a thoughtful, informed solution you can trust. When needed, I’ll connect you with the right subject matter experts to ensure you’re supported every step of the way.
If you're looking for someone who will take your goals seriously—and who sees you as more than just an account—I’d love the opportunity to serve you and care for your family.
For the past seven years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping businesses connect with people through thoughtful and creative marketing strategies. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with clients to understand their unique goals and help bring their visions to life. What’s always brought me the most joy, though, is rallying a team around a shared purpose—encouraging collaboration, sparking creativity, and celebrating the wins together.
That same passion for people and deep desire to see others thrive is what led me to my role in client care at StillWater. I believe relationships are at the heart of everything meaningful, and I consider it a gift to walk alongside others in a role that combines purpose, support, and personal connection.
Using my Christian faith as a guide, my mission is to love people with an overflow of the love I have received from Jesus. I firmly believe we weren’t created to do life alone, and that includes our efforts to manage our finances. Every conversation, every milestone, and even the hard moments can be an opportunity to connect, grow, and support one another.
While you and Tyler work together to create a wealth management plan tailored to your life and goals, I’ll be here as your advocate, encourager, and friend. At StillWater, we’re committed to walking with you and your family through every season—celebrating the highs and offering steady care during life’s uncertainties. You are not alone.
When I’m not serving our wonderful clients, you can usually find me in my favorite rocking chair with a glass of sweet tea and a good book in hand. I’m a wife, boy mom, family woman, prayer warrior, friend, and community servant—and I’m honored to now be a part of your journey.
